This opportunity is for someone looking to develop practical skills in machinery operation while supporting the day-to-day running of the busy charity farm. Practical training will be provided for the candidate to safely operate a 3-ton dumper and assist with a range of general farm duties. The role requires a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Main Responsibilities Dumper Driving Duties Operate a 3-ton dumper safely and efficiently Transport materials including stone, compost, wood chip, gravel, and other farm supplies Carry out daily vehicle safety checks and basic maintenance Report any faults or mechanical issues promptly to the farm manager Follow all site health and safety procedures Secondary Responsibilities Farm Tasks Assist with general farm & horticultural tasks where required Help with general farm maintenance Load and unload materials Assist with field preparation and seasonal farm activities and events Keep farmyards, sheds, and work areas clean and tidy Support other farm staff and volunteers with general operational tasks Requirements A positive attitude and willingness to learn Good level of physical fitness Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong awareness of health and safety Reliable and punctual Previous farm or machinery experience is beneficial but not essential Desirable Valid driving licence Interest in agriculture or machinery operation Previous experience working outdoors or in manual roles For more than 40 years we've led the way in providing autism-specific care and education for children, young people, and adults across the North-East of England.
