JOB PURPOSE
The main duties of the vocational aquaculture assessor is to assist with the provision and development of vocational aquaculture training for UHI Shetland. This will involve cross departmental working with staff from other departments.
The post holder will be expected to work primarily at the Scalloway Campus, and work as part of a small team.
MAIN DUTIES
1. To assist with the delivery and assessment of vocational aquaculture courses, particularly Modern Apprenticeships.
2. To ensure that assessing is delivered in line with standards and requirements of certifying and funding bodies and with the UHI Shetland policies and procedures.
3. To work in close collaboration with other sections within UHI Shetland.
4. To undertake some travel and out-of-hours’ work in relation to the delivery and assessment of training. This will principally, but not exclusively, relate to the delivery of Modern Apprenticeships in aquaculture to clients in both Shetland, Orkney and mainland.
5. Build and maintain effective communication and working links with local industry and with other industry and stakeholder groups to identify development and re-development opportunities for vocational courses.
6. To undertake and complete any training necessary to meet the requirements of the post.
7. To be responsible for ensuring that the Health and Safety policy is adhered to at all times and that safe working practices are employed within all areas of operation.
The specific responsibilities of the post may be adjusted from time to time as necessary. The post holder will be expected to have a flexible approach and be willing to adapt to changes in their role in response to the changing needs of the college.
