Salary range : £24,344 - £25,448 FTE : 1.0 (35 hours per week) Term : Open-ended Closing date: 16 June 2025 The Information Services Directorate is seeking to appoint a Library Operations Assistant (LOA), in a role which involves providing excellent customer service and contributing to the effective maintenance of the library and its collections. Your primary responsibilities will include: • staffing the Library Welcome desk; • performing a security function; • looking after the wellbeing of customers; • ensuring that Library facilities meet customer needs and that furniture and equipment are well-maintained by undertaking audits and fault reporting; • supporting customers by helping them with first line and directional enquiries when working on the Library floors; • undertaking stock work including re-shelving, moving stock, retrieving store requests, relegating materials no longer aligned with the University’s teaching, learning and research activities. This is a varied role for which you will need a good balance of customer service skills and the ability to work systematically and accurately in line with procedures. You will be a good team player, able to work across teams, as well as on your own initiative. You will have a good general education to SQA National 5 / Standard Grade or equivalent. The ability to work with technology, in particular Library Management Systems, will be required. You will join a team of 10 LOAs and will work closely with Library and Information Resources Staff as part of a supportive and motivated working environment. As with all Library and Information Resources (LIR) staff you will be required to support the Customer Service Excellence (CSE) initiative and to uphold the IS Customer Charter. The team operates a shift pattern, for which a 5% shift allowance is payable. Please see ‘Other Information’ for further details.
