Overview

This fixed-term role (up to 2 years) supports regulation of energy sectors, including combustion plants, waste incineration, and refineries. You will work within the Energy & COMAH team of the Energy and Manufacturing Industries Regulation of Environment & Business (E&B) Directorate.
Responsibilities
* Provide expert support and technical leadership through advice, guidance, and training
* Develop strategy for our sectors and produce tools to regulate, support development, and deliver environmental outcomes
* Commission and manage external research projects where needed
* Work with internal and external stakeholders such as Defra, DESNZ, internal operations teams, trade associations and other key industry players
* Respond to incidents as a central part of the role; be available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident
The team defines standards for our sectors, providing strategic direction and tools for regulation, guidance and training, and environmental best practice.
Experience/Skills Required
* Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures and encourage consideration of diversity issues in work
* Relevant technical and regulatory knowledge and experience in the energy sector or related processes, including knowledge of emission control measures
* Ability to build and maintain relationships with colleagues, operators, partner regulators, government, trade bodies and academia
* Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team to achieve common goals
