Facilities Management - Mobile Cleaner/Porter
Facilities Management currently has a vacancy for a Mobile Cleaner/Porter within our Corporate Asset Management Department.
This role involves working across the police estate of West Midlands, based at Perry Barr, covering the Stechford and Erdington areas. Some travel between sites and partner buildings within these areas will be required. Travel/mileage expenses incurred during working hours between different sites can be claimed.
The successful applicant will be responsible for general cleaning and porter duties within areas of an operational police station or partner building, including offices, washrooms, welfare areas, custody suites, and forensic areas.
Full training will be provided in accordance with British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc) standards.
We currently have a part-time vacancy with the following hours:
* 09:00 am - 14:00 pm, Monday to Friday
Key duties include:
* Damp dusting furniture, fixtures, and furnishings; suction cleaning and wet mopping floors and stairwells; washing walls and vertical surfaces up to 3.53m (11ft) using high-level cleaning equipment.
* Cleaning kitchens and welfare areas, including refrigerators and cupboards.
* Maintaining cleaning equipment and reporting faulty equipment or materials.
* Reporting maintenance defects observed in the building.
* Carrying out porter duties involving manual handling of furniture and goods, and external area cleaning as instructed.
* Undertaking training to safely perform all duties associated with the role.
Person Specification
* Experience in similar roles, preferably across multiple sites.
* Excellent communication skills, able to understand written and verbal instructions.
* Basic IT skills, including email and e-learning platforms.
* Ability to perform manual handling tasks.
* Willingness to learn and develop skills related to cleaning and manual handling equipment.
* Ability to commute within the police estate as required.
* Ability to work independently and possess good interpersonal skills.
* Availability for some weekend and bank holiday work.
Vetting: Successful applicants must pass Recruitment Vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearance, including a full background and financial check.
Medical: Medical checks, including drug testing, may be required prior to appointment.
