What you'll do:
As part of the Aerospace Fuels Research & Development Engineering team, deliver successful next generation smart and connected fuel product designs which maximises use of latest manufacturing processes and aligns with the Fuels Technology Roadmap.
Including guiding CAD designers to generate 3D CAD models and detailed drawings of complex electro-mechanical assemblies for a variety of aerospace applications.
Job responsibilities
• Generate design solutions which meet our internal & customer specifications. Preparation of concepts, guidance and generation of 2D technical drawings and 3D models using CREO or Catia V5. Creation and storage of robust and maintainable 3D models and 2D drawings of parts and assemblies in a data management system (PLM).
• Guide the generation of engineering drawings containing sufficient detail to ensure full prototype "manufacturability" together with all relevant information such as tolerances, finishes, etc.
• Propose suppliers, design tips, manufacturing ways like additive manufacturing to accelerate and facilitate prototype delivery.
• Collaborate with the centers of expertise (electronics, software, mechanical, additive manufacturing) to compare solution and select the best concepts.
• Provide CAD-based illustrations for presentations, manufacturing instructions, and product literature.
• Create functional dimension and tolerance schemes with consideration of manufacturing process capability and perform tolerance analysis to optimize designs.
• Prepare technology readiness reviews and design reviews and liaise with manufacturing & supply chain to ensure design to cost targets are met.
• Provide status updates and participate in project team meetings
• Support change and adoption of new technologies through the delivery of design guides and trainings.
Qualifications:
• Bachelors' Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Years in a professional engineering environment ideally gained in a research & development role.
Skills:
• Experience with CREO or Catia
• Experience working with data management systems (PLM)
• Experience in designing complex assemblies mixing electronics and mechanics.
