Position Summary
Band 8b Clinical Scientist required to lead the Proteins section of the Chemical Pathology Department and support the department's Quality Management System.
Responsibilities
* Lead the Proteins section of the laboratory and contribute to protocol development.
* Serve as the "duty" biochemist and provide clinical and scientific liaison within the network.
* Work closely with IT as a data analyst and support medical teaching and trainee clinical scientist training.
* Assist the Head of Department and Consultant team in delivering a high‑quality, cost‑effective Chemical Pathology service compliant with ISO15189:2012 and progressing to ISO15189:2022.
* Represent the department at Trust and pathology meetings and contribute to service improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
* HCPC Registered Clinical Scientist in Clinical Biochemistry.
* Successfully completed Part 1 FRCPath examination.
* Experience working in a busy Chemical Pathology Department.
* Applicants currently working towards Part 2 FRCPath will receive full support in preparation.
Training & Support
* Support to successfully complete specified competencies prior to attaining Band 8b status.
* Training and supervision provided.
