Pressure Testing & Pre-Commissioning Engineer – Leeds
Murphy is recruiting for a Pressure Testing & Pre-Commissioning Engineer to join our award-winning Energy team at the Pipeline Testing & Welding Services site in Leeds. The role requires a strong Mechanical Engineering background, technical integrity focus, and commercial awareness. Responsibilities include tendering, contract review, risk assessments, project documentation, calculations, and client-facing pressure equipment management.
Our projects span National Grid, Cadent Gas, OPA, SGN, and more, including compressor stations, LNG terminals, pipelines, and diversions.
What you will be doing:
1. Preparing detailed procedures, RAMS, and plans for pressure testing and pre-commissioning.
2. Serving as the technical contact for external clients and managing project costs and variations.
3. Ensuring compliance with health, safety, security, and environmental policies.
4. Mentoring staff and ensuring safety guidelines are followed.
5. Providing constructability input during solution development.
6. Allocating construction staff based on skills and experience.
7. Coordinating with Project Managers to ensure appropriate resource allocation.
8. Carrying out activities in accordance with health and safety legislation.
9. Maintaining quality standards in construction and installation activities.
10. Facilitating project development from solution to handover.
11. Engaging with third-party, environmental, and public relations issues.
12. Promoting Murphy’s culture of safety and zero harm.
Who are we looking for?
* Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.
* Experience in Oil & Gas / Petrochemical Industry.
* Knowledge of Cryogenic Nitrogen, hoses, tanks, vaporisers.
* Proficiency in mechanical calculations, pipeline standards, pressure testing, and pigging.
