Job Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our acute team working across The Princess Royal and The Royal Shrewsbury Hospitals. Those in an existing band 7 role or looking for a developmental position as a stepping stone between Band 6 and Band 7 are welcome to apply, as training and support can be given to develop leadership and clinical skills. Ideally, you will have completed or started Vidoefluoroscopy or FEES competencies.
Our team has access to a videofluoroscopy service, and we are in the process of setting up a Fibreoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) service.
We have regular access to CPD opportunities within our acute team and our wider SLT team, which includes specialists in head and neck cancer, community hospitals, outpatients, voice, domiciliary care, and our local spinal injury centre. There will be opportunities to gain skills in organizing and creating training, developing supervision skills, and gaining experience with instrumental swallowing assessment. Cross-site working with our sister hospital (Royal Shrewsbury Hospital) may be required and provides an opportunity to learn from our broader acute inpatient team.
This post will be supported by our Band 8a Instrumental Assessment & Complex Dysphagia SLT for clinical learning and development.
