We are seeking a skilled Building Trades Operative to carry out reactive and planned maintenance, minor repairs, and small works across University buildings and grounds. The role includes general building maintenance, drainage and grounds repairs, limited decorating, and supporting safety and security on campus.
As a Building Trades Operative, you will prepare materials and job-related information in advance of works, ensure tasks are completed to a high standard, and support safety and security across the University estate. The role involves shift working, participation in an out- of-hours call-out rota paid at £140.00 per week (plus call-out fees) and will require occasional supervision of apprentices and contractors.
Essential Requirements:
- City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in a building-related trade.
- Significant post-qualification experience in a building-related trade.
- Broad experience across a range of building maintenance disciplines.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Full and valid UK driving licence, or successful completion of the driving theory test with a requirement to pass the practical test within 12 months of employment.
You will also be expected to demonstrate a positive and proactive approach, with a willingness to undertake training and development as required.
