FUNDED VIA NATIONAL LOTTERY (fixed contract to 30.9.26) While these posts are initially pilot funded until 30.9.26 we would hope this will be continued.

Tenure Sustainment Officer - £13.85/hr contracted for 25hrs/wk (additional hours may be available)

Ayr Housing Aid Centre (AHAC) are a registered Charity established in, converting to SCIO in. Our main aims and objectives are to delay and or prevent homeless, encouraging people to enforce their housing rights and responsibilities through empowerment while alleviating poverty. In we became the only agency in South Ayrshire accredited under the Scottish National Standards to provide Type I, II & III Free, Independent Housing Information, Advice, Advocacy and Representation.

Our Tenure Sustainment Service has been regulated by the Care Inspectorate since, providing a holistic, high quality, intensive housing support services. Our Sustainment team have been recognised as “grade 6 - excellent, where performance was sector leading with outstandingly high outcomes for people”. Providing wrap around support with care, compassion and kindness giving headspace to make informed choices to improve fairer life chances.

These posts are funded by National Lottery as a pilot to improve fairer life chances through empowerment. Successful candidates will help increase access to immediate direct help across the whole of South Ayrshire with particular focus on those in poverty or threatened with homelessness within rural areas.

2 new posts:

Community Caseworker will provide increased visibility and immediate face to face access across rural and underserved locations. This will be driven by community need, providing a holistic approach to actively link them with other local specialist services and encourage engagement to improve wellbeing and positive outcomes/solutions. You will open enquiries and cases and work in partnership with service users to establish need and prepare a case plan to work through together. This will include referrals to internal and external partner agencies to deliver the best positive outcomes including linking to the Tenure Sustainment Officer within this project where they require intensive housing support to secure positive outcomes.

By securing additional income and accessing benefits and grants we will reduce poverty and isolation while improving their mental wellbeing, providing them with the necessary tools to be able to sustain their tenancy and avoid eviction and homelessness. By updating and negotiating with their landlord they can work towards strengthening and improving their relationship through mutual trust and respect.

Tenure Sustainment Officer will provide 1-2-1 intensive housing support (2-5 hrs week) for those unable to deal with their situation through the Caseworker. This provides a wraparound holistic service to guide service users through the process and provide additional emotional help in coping with the threat of homelessness. You will register with the SSSC and fulfil the criteria as a housing support worker.

You will work in partnership with people to encourage, enable and empower them to take control of their housing situation which will have a positive effect on them and the wider community. Through income maximisation and alleviation of poverty people are afforded the headspace to take action to improve their own situation and improve relationships. You will participate in internal and external training to ensure your knowledge is up to date. You will be able to travel efficiently and effectively within South Ayrshire areas to meet the needs of the services including providing outreach and community sessions. TOIL is available for out of hours including weekend events.

Service User Led

Our services are person centred and have evolved and been designed by the people we support. We are keen to increase how we involve them including in the future making use of their existing skills and interests to encourage volunteering and future employment opportunities to encompass and nourish lived experience and improve connection and community cohesion. This new service will reach those currently underserved to deliver a friendly, kindness led, empowering service encouraging conversations to encourage positive decisions and choices to improve their housing, health and financial wellbeing. They will take back control of issues they may have been unable to face which will create long-term positive outcomes including enabling, supporting and encouraging positive future chances to improve their housing and human rights and improving life chances including through referral to our preferred partners.

You will encourage those you work with to become part of a service user group fostered by lived experience to further enhance and develop services. Our bespoke service has made a huge impact to those in need and we hope this funding will enable us to reach out to more people and increase capacity. Last year AHAC were selected as one of 2 organisations across the whole of Scotland to become a Glasspool Frontline Partner agency. This has allowed us to make emergency crisis payments and alleviate poverty immediately. This along with their expertise in grant finding activities and financially benefited those they help.
