Job Details: Recovery Navigator Community Team
Waythrough launched in October 2024 following the merger of Humankind and Richmond Fellowship. Our vision is to break down the barriers that stop people getting the support they need to live a life they value. We tackle poverty and disadvantage in communities, through mental health, drug and alcohol, housing and related support.
We have almost 200 services around England – and nearly 3,500 amazing staff and volunteers who run them. Every year our services support around 125,000 people.
Bringing together two big organisations is not a small task and it’ll take a while to fully integrate our systems, processes and approaches. That’s why you will notice the jobs here are still branded ‘Humankind’. Next year we’ll be fully integrating our recruitment systems but for now they are separate.
Recovery Navigator – Community Team
Location: Barnsley
Contract: Permanent
Are you passionate about empowering people to overcome challenges and transform their lives? Do you have experience – or the right skills – to support others in their recovery journey from drug and/or alcohol use?
If you’re committed, compassionate, and ready to make a real impact, we want to hear from you.
About the role
We’re looking for a Recovery Navigator to join our Community Team – a dedicated group of professionals who support individuals with both substance use and mental health challenges.
In this vital role, you’ll work 1:1 with service users in structured treatment, helping them build positive coping strategies and achieve their personal recovery goals. You’ll act as both a supporter and facilitator, guiding people to access the right resources and take meaningful steps toward change.
As a Recovery Navigator, you will be responsible for:
* Delivering recovery-focused assessments and personalised support plans
* Managing risk appropriately while promoting independence and choice
* Offering tailored interventions at every stage of treatment
* Supporting the “whole person” – addressing physical, mental, emotional, and social wellbeing
* Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, including counsellors, psychologists, and external partners
* Promoting engagement with mental health services and community resources
About you
To succeed as a Recovery Navigator, you will ideally have:
* A passion for recovery and person-centred care
* Experience working with vulnerable individuals (this can be through personal, voluntary, or professional roles)
* Strong communication and problem-solving skills
* A flexible, team-focused attitude and the ability to work collaboratively
* An understanding of the importance of holistic care and trauma-informed approaches
* Knowledge of substance use and/or mental health (desirable, but training can be provided)
