Think Recruitment are currently working with a specialist engineering consultancy who are seeking a highly skilled Engineering Manager to lead and manage the design engineering function within their organisation. The successful candidate will oversee project delivery within the Design team, management of the Team of Engineers and department, development and implementation of design standards, mentor and develop our dynamic team, and contribute to business development and recruitment.
This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership ability, and excellent organisational skills to manage the ongoing growth of our engineering department, with key responsibilities including;
Project Delivery:
Ensure the successful and timely delivery of projects
Oversee project phases from start to finish, ensuring quality standards are met throughout.
Independent Checker of design submissionsTeam Development:
Lead, mentor and support a growing team of design engineers
Provide technical guidance
Support the professional development of team membersDesign Standards:
Create, implement, and maintain a suite of comprehensive design standards to ensure consistency and excellence across all projectsBusiness Development & Quotes:
Prepare quotations, technical proposals, and presentations.
Enhance business development efforts by identifying new opportunities and building client relationships.Department Growth:
Drive the technical, professional, and operational growth of the engineering team.
Actively contribute to recruitment and onboarding of new team members to strengthen the team and improve departmental efficiency.
Produce and execute departmental plan to progress the Engineering Team and the business.Desired Outcomes:
Projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
Team members grow professionally and are well-prepared to take on increasing responsibilities.
Design standards are developed and widely adopted within the department.
The business sees increased technical efficiency, new opportunities, and strengthened relationships with clientsTo be considered for this role, the ideal candidate will have;
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering
Chartered Engineer MICE or MIStructE
Proven experience as a Design Engineer, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management position.
Strong knowledge of design principles, methodologies, and industry standards.
Experience with project management, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Ability to mentor and motivate a team of engineers to achieve high performance and professional growth.
Experience in business development, including preparing quotes, proposals, and managing client relationships.
