We are excited to announce an opportunity in the KCC Highway Asset Management and Inspections Team for an ambitious, talented, and experienced Engineer who is keen to demonstrate their technical, asset management, and project delivery skills.
You will need to have experience with highway engineering, such as surfacing and maintenance of carriageways, and a sound knowledge of Asset Management principles.
Kent County Council is responsible for a highway network of 8,700 km, which is the most valuable asset we own as an authority. The Carriageway Asset Preservation Team is responsible for delivering a comprehensive programme of varied preservation techniques and associated works to maintain this asset appropriately. We undertake safety inspections and promote good highway asset management practices across our organization, particularly for road and footway assets. We are also responsible for delivering hundreds of planned road and footway renewal schemes.
You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of schemes within timeframes, budgets, and quality standards by working with our supply chain. You should be able to use a risk-based approach to prioritize demands and be open to innovative delivery methods.
The role will be challenging and varied, offering the successful applicant an opportunity to develop their career within a client organization in the Civil Engineering sector.
The role is planned to be based at Aylesford Highway Depot, covering West Kent areas, though as work can be countywide, flexible working opportunities are available.
Ability to travel across a wide geographical area in a timely and flexible manner at various times of the day is essential.
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have sufficient spoken English/Welsh for effective job performance, as detailed in the Job Description/Person Specification.
