This role is an ideal opportunity for an experienced, registered Pharmacy Technician who has excellent dispensing and communication skills,to develop their skills and knowledge.
You will need to have experience of providing ward based medicines management services as a Registered Pharmacy Technician. We will support the successful candidate with their introduction into this role, and with their future professional development.
The successful candidate must be a Pharmacy Technician registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council. They will have excellent interpersonal skills, be good at managing their time, be flexible in their approach to work and be an excellent team player. They will already hold an Accredited Checking Qualification.
Main duties of the job
* Rotational post where the post holder will work in various areas of the Pharmacy including Ward based Medicines Management, Warfarin clinic and Dispensary
* Participate in the full ward based medicines management service.
* Hosts warfarin 'Point of Care' Testing and dosing clinics on a rotational basis.
* Responsible for the final checking of dispensed products
* Support and deputise for the Lead Pharmacy Technicians
* Supervise, mentor and train a range of junior staff

Person Specification
Qualifications
* BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science/NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent
* Registered with the GPHC
* Experience of collaborative working with multidisciplinary teams
Knowledge
* Knowledge of the laws and regulations relating to the provision of an effective pharmacy service
* Knowledge of how ward based pharmacy works and an appreciation of the issues ward staff face managing medicines
Skills
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Customer service/counselling
* Ability to provide comprehensive training to other staff
* Ability to problem solve
Experience
* Considerable experience in all areas of Hospital Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician
* Experience of ward-based Medicines Management duties, one stop dispensing, drug history taking and patient counselling.
* Experience of leading and managing change
* Experience of writing SOPs
* Experience of writing and delivering presentations
* Experience of using an Automated Medicines Cabinet
* Previous experience of managing, mentoring and supervising staff
