Job Overview
Applications are invited for a Locum Consultant General Radiologist with an interest in Gastrointestinal (GI) Oncology and Musculoskeletal (MSK). The post is based in a busy Gastroenterology unit that provides on‑site endoscopy, ERCP and stenting, Percutaneous Transhepatic Cholangiography (PTC) and Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd. The unit links weekly with the multi‑disciplinary team (MDT) and delivers oncology services across a range of specialties including lung, breast, GI, gynaecology, urology, haematology and Cancer of Unknown Primary (CUP). The Radiotherapy Centre is centralised at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, with a chemotherapy centre on all three sites. The post holder will contribute to and support these services and attend MDTs as required.
Main Responsibilities
* Teach and supervise postgraduate trainees, undergraduate students and other hospital staff.
* Carry out quality assurance and service management within specialist areas, including General Radiology.
* Attend weekly multi‑disciplinary team meetings and contribute to departmental decision‑making.
* Provide cross‑sectional imaging for oncology across cancer MDTs.
* Participate in clinical risk management, incident monitoring and discrepancy meetings.
* Maintain good record keeping, audits and participate in departmental research projects.
* Implement and support clinical governance and management processes in line with NHS policies.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
* Full GMC Registration.
* FRCR or equivalent.
* Experience in cross‑sectional imaging.
* Commitment to team approach and multi‑disciplinary working.
* Evidence of ability to work both in a team and alone.
* Counselling and communication skills.
* Basic IT skills.
* Ability to work on call.
* Commitment to clinical governance and management processes.
* Understanding of NHS management processes.
* Evidence of participation in clinical audit and understanding of its role.
* Evidence of completing audit projects.
* Ability to access and apply published evidence.
* Ongoing interest in postgraduate and undergraduate teaching.
* Evidence of commitment to lifelong learning and CPD.
Desirable Criteria
* On specialist register for speciality or Specialist Registrar with CCT within 6 months of interview date.
* Broad experience in general radiology.
* Computing skills.
* Evidence of management training.
* Research‑based publications.
* Organisation of teaching programmes (undergraduate and/or postgraduate).
* Desirable experience in management and clinical governance.
* Desirable experience in audit and research.
