Job Description
The Governing Body of Ysgol Robert Owen invites applications from qualified and experienced head teachers to lead and develop a specialist provision for learners aged 3 – 19 with a range of additional learning needs. The school has recently moved into a new, purpose-built facility as of September 2024, and this role offers an opportunity to shape and further develop this unique environment in Powys.
The ideal candidate will be an inspirational and highly committed leader capable of motivating staff, engaging with the community, and fostering parental and family resilience. Key responsibilities include:
1. Leading and developing the specialist provision, staff, and learners;
2. Building strong links with the local community and external agencies;
3. Focusing on the social and educational needs of the children and young people;
4. Driving continuous improvement and maintaining a high-performing culture.
Applicants should demonstrate:
* A proven track record of successful senior leadership in specialist educational settings;
* Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to strengthen community links;
* Vision, drive, and enthusiasm for educational excellence.
Prospective candidates are encouraged to visit the school during term time to meet learners and staff. The starting date is flexible within the period from January 2026 to September 2026, with a thorough handover from the current Head Teacher.
