Overview
Job title: Occupational Therapy Assistant (Band 3), full-time. The Calderdale and Kirklees In-Patient Occupational Therapy team is seeking 1 full-time OTA to join our team in an acute inpatient setting, supporting adults and older people and delivering person-centered interventions.
The post holder will work alongside a dedicated occupational therapy team, supporting and encouraging patients in their recovery journey and delivering therapeutic interventions and activity.

Responsibilities
* Work autonomously and as part of the MDT, delivering high standard assessment, treatment and client-centred care in a safe and therapeutic environment.
* Support the MDT in facilitating safe and effective discharge of acute inpatients.
* Contribute to a recovery-based approach using evidence-based interventions and professional models of practice.
* Participate in 1:1 interventions and therapeutic groups, within own competence and skill set.
* Follow care plans, advise service users, families and carers, and communicate changes to the team.
* Undertake physical aspects of care (e.g., moving and handling) and use equipment appropriately (e.g., hoists, wheelchairs) with proper instruction.
* Attend to service users’ personal care needs as required and participate in flexible rostering to provide 7-day care as appropriate.
* Work across wards/sites as required and cross-site collaboration with the wider MDT.
* Adhere to policies, procedures, protocols and clinical care plans within competent scope of practice.
* Contribute to care planning by feeding back observations to the registered professional/clinical team.

Qualifications and experience
Essential
* GCSE A-D or grade 3-9 in English and Maths or equivalent
* Level 2 qualification or working toward level 3 with demonstrated competencies
* Care Certificate or willingness to achieve within 12 weeks of commencement
* Experience providing personal care and working in a caring environment at band 2 level or equivalent
* Ability to work effectively, professionally and as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Demonstrated initiative, decision-making and prioritisation skills
* Evidence of commitment to user/carer involvement
Desirable
* Apprenticeship level 3 or equivalent (e.g., NVQ level 3 in Health & Social Care)
* Experience of the specialty area
* Willingness to undertake further study
Skills and attributes
* Excellent customer care skills and ability to work flexibly on a 24-hour shift pattern
* Safe decision-making and resilience to pressure; non-judgemental and empathetic
* Strong communication, IT/keyboard skills and confidentiality
* Diversity awareness and ability to travel around the Trust as required

Salary and benefits: Band 3, £24,937 to £26,598 per year (Agenda for Change).
Location: Priestley Unit, Halifax Road, Dewsbury, WF13 4HS.
