Job Overview
We are recruiting a competent Senior Theatre/Anaesthetics/Recovery Practitioner who can work across many specialties and deputise in the absence of a team leader.
The post holder should maintain a positive learning environment and take every reasonable opportunity for developing and acquiring competencies for self‑development. The role supports the delivery of safe, efficient, and timely patient care, and as an expert resource you will supervise, train, and support learners in Theatre. A relevant Practice Assessor/Educator qualification is desirable.
Responsibilities
* Function as a competent clinical Scrub/Anaesthetic/Recovery Practitioner within the designated clinical area.
* Deliver direct patient care whilst coordinating and overseeing theatre practice.
* Ensure the delivery of clinical activities during your span of duty.
* Utilise resources efficiently to deliver optimum quality care to the client group.
Expectations include delivering a high standard of service with patient safety and quality as a priority, demonstrating effective teamwork, and working to the highest standards of evidence‑based practice. You will participate as an integral member of the theatre team, giving leadership and guidance to other staff, and supporting development and implementation of positive change within the Theatre department.

The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital comprises nine Operating Theatres covering Major and Day Case Surgery, including Urology, Upper GI, Bariatric, Colo‑Rectal, Orthopaedic Trauma, Vascular, Ophthalmology, and Robotics. We also run an Emergency CEPOD Theatre running 24/7 as needed.
