Overview
The Hywel Dda University Health Board (UHB) is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Consultant Psychiatrist to join the North Ceredigion Community Mental Health Team. The role involves providing clinical expertise and strategic leadership to develop our mental health services for the local population.
Responsibilities
* Provide a first‑class clinical service in Adult General Community Psychiatry.
* Offer effective leadership to all staff within the specialty.
* Sustain and develop teaching and research initiatives where appropriate.
* Conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and Health Board service plans.
* Maintain core clinical expertise in Adult General Psychiatry, including multidisciplinary assessment and community management of acute and chronic mental health problems.
* Run a sub‑specialty service and support training of multidisciplinary teams.
* Deliver care in the community alongside primary health care and social care teams.
* Address the Intermediate Care Agenda and participate in CPD, including audit.
* Maintain good standing with the Royal College for CPD and revalidation.
* Act as an Educational Supervisor for junior and middle‑grade medical staff.
* Undertake regular multidisciplinary clinical audit and provide evidence‑based medicine.
Qualifications & Experience
* In‑depth knowledge of running a sub‑specialty service.
* Valid medical registration and eligibility to practice in the UK.
* Strong experience in multidisciplinary assessment and community mental health management.
* Experience with teaching, research, and clinical audit.
* Current good standing with the Royal College and active CPD engagement.

* Four main hospitals: Bronglais Hospital (Aberystwyth), Glangwili Hospital (Carmarthen), Prince Philip Hospital (Llanelli), Withybush Hospital (Haverfordwest).
* Five community hospitals: Amman Valley & Llandovery (Carmarthenshire), Tregaron (Ceredigion), Tenby & South Pembrokeshire (Pembrokeshire).
* Two integrated care centres: Aberaeron & Cardigan (Ceredigion).
* Additional community infrastructure: 47 general practices, dental practices (including orthodontic), 97 community pharmacies, 43 general ophthalmic practices, 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers.
* Numerous mental health and learning disabilities services.
