An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Road Safety and Data Team for a dynamic and committed individual to support the council’s collision analysis function as Collision Data Technician.
In this role, you will monitor, investigate, and analyze road traffic collisions and collision data, working as an effective communicator with excellent organizational skills and capable of working independently or as part of a team. You will collaborate with colleagues who deliver road safety education, training, and publicity across Derbyshire, and you will be encouraged and supported to develop and become an important member of this friendly team.
What you will be doing
* Assist with the monitoring, investigation and analysis of road traffic collisions in the County
* Carry out statistical and numerical analysis of data to ascertain casualty patterns in order to ensure resources are directed to the correct road user groups
* Provide accurate collision data and technical information and present data in a range of formats for use in a variety of documents, including the annual Casualty Report and road user studies
* Maintain the casualty database by uploading collisions onto the system and validating collision data received from Derbyshire Police

What skills and experience do you need to have
* Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills with attention to detail
* Aptitude for working with data and IT systems and demonstration of good Database / GIS skills
* An analytical and innovative approach to problems, with good communication skills, both written and oral
* Awareness of road safety issues, particularly in relation to current issues and developments, and working with external partners would be advantageous
