An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Flood Risk Engineer within the Infrastructure Planning Team in the Environment and Transport Department.
We are looking for someone to manage our extensive Flood risk management capital programme whilst also assisting in the delivery of statutory functions and providing line management and supervisory support to team members.
About the Role
This role will involve working alongside, and providing supervisory support, to colleagues in the Flood Risk Management team, carrying site visits and site meetings with residents, contractors, developers, land owners to investigate possible solutions to known flooding issues, writing business cases and funding bids and taking a leading role in the delivery of a multi-million pound project portfolio.
Also providing technical advice to Members, partners and stakeholders, including writing reports where appropriate.
You will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and have experience of managing your own workload and working to deadlines.
You will have excellent communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders.

About You
To apply for this post, you must have:
1. A degree in an appropriate subject (. Civil Engineering, Water and Environmental Engineering or equivalent demonstrable work experience of project managing flood risk related projects.
2. Demonstratable knowledge and experience of project management processes commensurate with the Environment Agency requirements.
3. Demonstratable knowledge and experience of the development of flood risk management policies and strategies.
4. Proven experience of supervising and managing members of a team with varied workload, both in technical aspects and performance management.
5. Demonstrable experience of successfully engaging with customers / clients / stakeholders, including attending and producing materials for meetings, exhibitions etc. and liaising with Elected Members.
6. Excellent communication and presentation skills, including being able to provide relevant, concise written advice and negotiate successful outcomes.
7. Demonstrable experience of working to tight timescales and to agreed targets.
