Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care and support to individuals in a residential care settings. This position requires a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our clients, ensuring their safety, dignity, and well-being. The preferred applicant will have a knowledge of mental health and be able to provide emotional support, promote independence and be self motivated.
Responsibilities
* Assist clients with daily living activities such as prompting personal care, providing options for activities, promoting living skills and meal preparation.
* Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a positive environment.
* Administer medication as prescribed and monitor client health conditions.
* Implement behaviour management strategies to support clients with diverse needs.
* Maintain accurate records of client progress and report any changes to the care team.
* Drive clients to appointments or social activities as required.
* Ensure a clean and safe living environment for clients by performing housekeeping duties and encouraging clients to learn skills in this area.
* Support clients to attend appointments and foster beneficial relationships with other professionals.
* This role will require 1 sleep-in shift per week. (more available to cover holidays)
Skills
* Experience in supported living or residential mental health settings is highly desirable.
* Proficiency in first aid, medication administration, safeguarding and food hygiene.
* Knowledge of mental health and behaviour management strategies.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
* A valid driving licence is preferred for transporting clients when necessary.
* Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others are essential qualities for this role.
* A desire to be creative and inspired when improving the daily lives of people in our care.
* Confidence and competence to work alone and assume responsibility.
