This unique opportunity allows you to stay closely connected to the HGV vehicles and equipment you know while guiding and supporting field engineers across the UK. You'll become the go-to person for technical advice on HGV and specialist equipment used helping engineers troubleshoot and succeed.
What You'll Be Doing as the Heavy Plant and HGV Technical Support
Offering first-line technical support to field engineers working on specialist heavy fleet vehicles.
Diagnosing hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical faults remotely (via phone/email) and occasionally on-site.
Supporting both diesel and electric vehicle systems
Collaborating with the in-house manufacturing and engineering team during your structured product induction.
Providing ongoing technical training and support to engineers in the field.
Logging and tracking technical queries to identify recurring issues and contribute to continuous improvement. What You'll Bring to the role of Heavy Plant and HGV Technical Support role:
A strong background in heavy plant, HGVs, or mechanical engineering - ideally as a senior or master technician.
Hands-on experience with hydraulic, electrical, or mechanical fault finding and repair.
Exposure to plant or fleet vehicles such as refuse trucks, cranes, 360 excavators, tractors, or similar.
Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Maintenance, Plant or HGV (City & Guilds, NVQ, IMI, or equivalent).
A full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel across the UK occasionally. What's In It for You as the Heavy Plant and HGV Technical Support professional:
£45,000 basic salary with travel expenses paid for occasional field support (overnight stays are rare).
Office-based role in Halifax, West Yorkshire - Monday to Friday hours (8:30-17:00, 38.75 hrs/week) with some customer visits
25 days holiday plus bank holidays.
Pension contribution options: 4%/4% or 5%/6%.
