We are seeking an experienced and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision in the Wakefield area. This is a full-time opportunity in a supportive and purposeful setting where your experience with SEND and your clear communication skills will be vital.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 or small group support for students with complex additional needs including ASD, ADHD, and PMLD
* Support the implementation of EHCP targets through tailored classroom and activity-based interventions
* Assist with personal care and mobility, including moving and handling (training is highly desirable)
* Help manage and de-escalate behaviours using a proactive and positive approach
* Foster strong, trusting relationships with pupils, staff and parents
* Contribute to a calm, respectful and structured learning environment that prioritises emotional regulation and pupil wellbeing
What We're Looking For:
* Proven experience in specialist SEND settings is essential
* Confident communicator with staff, pupils and external professionals
* Moving and handling training is highly desirable
* Team-player who is resilient, proactive and patient
* Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
* Ability to remain calm and adapt quickly in a dynamic school environment
