Job Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Structural Design Technician in our Catnic business in Caerphilly, South Wales. The role supports our customer base and offers opportunities to develop skills.
What you will do
Provide technical advice to end users by designing and scheduling lintels for a range of UK construction projects across housing, industrial and commercial sectors.
* Design and schedule lintels for various projects throughout the UK.
* Provide technical advice, schedules and structural calculations.
* Understand current and competitor products, identify strengths and weaknesses, and contribute to product range improvements.
* Promote the advantages of the product range both technically and commercially, based on sound knowledge of building technology.
* Ensure all work, including third party service providers, complies with health, safety, quality, environmental and corporate policies.
Qualifications and Experience
The role requires engineering qualification and practical exposure to structural, civil or building environments. A 12‑month Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programme supports progression to a full Technical Services Engineer.
* Ideally HNC/HND in Engineering, Construction, Civil or Structural Engineering or related work experience.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering or construction drawings.
* Some experience or exposure within:
o Manufacturing technical environments
o CAD (AutoCAD or similar)
o Good IT skills including Microsoft Office
* Strong communication and organisational skills.
* Willingness to learn and develop professionally.
