The Junior Security Analyst will play a key role in monitoring, responding to, and supporting the investigation of security alerts across the organisation’s IT infrastructure.
This entry-level role is ideal for individuals who have completed formal education or training in IT or cyber security and are now looking to begin their professional career in the field.
Working as part of the Information Security team, the successful candidate will assist with triaging alerts, managing support tickets, and maintaining oversight of key security systems such as endpoint protection, email security, and network monitoring tools.
They will work closely with other IT and Cyber Security engineers to develop their understanding of threats and defences and will receive on-the-job training and mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
• Monitor security alerts, logs, and events from various security systems including fire-walls, endpoint protection platforms, SIEM tools, and email security systems
• Triage and investigate low to moderate-level security incidents, escalating when nec-essary to senior analysts
• Create and update incident tickets, ensuring accurate documentation of findings, ac-tions taken, and outcomes
• Support the maintenance and tuning of security tools, working under guidance to en-sure they remain effective and relevant
• Assist in routine vulnerability scans and follow-up activities such as patch verification and remediation tracking
• Help prepare basic reports and summaries for internal stakeholders on incidents, trends, and system health
• Participate in cyber security awareness activities and support end-user communication where required
• Maintain awareness of current threats and emerging vulnerabilities through research and threat intelligence feeds
• Collaborate with the wider IT team to ensure secure configuration and support of sys-tems

Essential:
• Demonstrable interest in cyber security, with a desire to build a career in the field
• Formal education in IT or cyber security (e.g. higher education qualification, university degree, or vocational equivalent training)
• Basic understanding of networking concepts (e.g. IP addresses, ports, protocols, fire-walls)
• Awareness of common security threats such as phishing, malware, ransomware, and unauthorised access
• Ability to analyse information methodically and logically
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to follow structured processes and document findings accurately
• Comfortable using Windows and Linux operating systems
• Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
Desirable:
• Prior experience in an IT support, helpdesk, or infrastructure role
• Familiarity with security tools such as antivirus, endpoint detection and response (EDR), or SIEM platforms
• Understanding of cyber security frameworks or standards (e.g. ISO 27001, NIST, Cyber Essentials)
• Exposure to scripting or automation tools (e.g. PowerShell, Bash, or Python)
• Any relevant certifications (e.g. CompTIA Security+, Microsoft SC-900, Cisco CyberOps Associate)
