Controls Technician / Controls Engineer
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 per annum

A well-established and growing manufacturing and engineering group is seeking an experienced Controls Technician / Controls Engineer to join its team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a dynamic, hands-on environment where you will contribute to the design, build and support of bespoke control systems.
The Role
You will be responsible for supporting the full lifecycle of control system projects — from initial client discussions through to design, testing and site support.
Key responsibilities include:
Liaising with clients to define system specifications and project requirements
Assisting with the preparation of quotations
Designing electrical schematics in line with relevant electrical and safety standards
Designing control panel and cabinet layouts
Producing Bills of Materials (BOMs)
Developing PLC and HMI software (SCADA experience advantageous but not essential)
Configuring instrumentation, VFDs and associated control equipment
Testing equipment for electrical safety and operational compliance prior to dispatch
Preparing technical documentation and manuals
Supporting control panel builds in the workshop when required
Providing technical support to internal teams and associated companies
Delivering remote/telephone technical support
Attending site visits when required for commissioning and system support
Diagnosing and fault-finding control system issues on machinery
Supporting general workshop and light administrative duties within a small business environment
