Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Fire Alarm Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis in the Essex/Suffolk region. You must be able to install, commission, and sign off fire alarm systems in line with UK regulations and standards.
This is an on-site role working across a variety of projects. Daily tasks will include:
Installation and commissioning of fire detection and alarm systems
System inspections, testing, and planned maintenance
Troubleshooting and fault finding
Ensuring compliance with BS 5839 and relevant fire safety regulations
Producing certification and system sign-off documentation
Working closely with clients to understand requirements and deliver tailored solutions
Qualifications & Requirements
Requirements
Relevant BAFE accreditation (or equivalent UK fire industry certification) – essential
Strong understanding of BS 5839 and UK fire safety standards
Proven experience installing and commissioning fire alarm systems (residential and/or commercial)
Ability to produce compliance documentation and certification for sign-off
Good communication skills with clients and colleagues
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Full UK driving licence
Additional desirable:
FIA training or equivalent industry courses
Experience with a variety of fire alarm panels (e.g. Advanced, Kentec, Morley, Apollo, Hochiki)
Requirements
At least 4 years’ experience in a similar role within the UK Experience in preparing quotations and providing technical support Good written and verbal communication skills with a focus on customer satisfaction Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently as well as part of a team Experience in the instrumentation or flow measurement industry is a plus Knowledge of process signals such as pulse, 4-20mA, Modbus, M-bus Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field
