About the Role:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Social Worker to join theChildren’s & Families team in Bristol. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with children, young people, and their families to support their welfare and improve outcomes.
The successful candidate will undertake comprehensive assessments, devise and implement care plans, and provide interventions to safeguard and promote the wellbeing of children and families. Working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment, you will make a real difference in the lives of those you support.
Key Responsibilities:
* Undertake assessments of children and families in need under statutory frameworks, including the Children Act 1989.
* Develop, implement, and review care plans that address the needs and risks identified during assessments.
* Provide direct support and intervention to children, young people, and their families to improve their circumstances.
* Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners, including schools, health professionals, and voluntary organisations, to deliver coordinated services.
* Ensure children’s voices are heard and central to all planning and decision-making processes.
* Undertake court work, including preparing and presenting reports, as required.
* Safeguard children at risk by taking appropriate action in line with statutory and organisational safeguarding protocols.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in compliance with legislative and organisational standards.
* Attend regular supervision, team meetings, and training to support professional development and best practice.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
* Degree in Social Work (or equivalent) from a UK university.
* Registration with Social Work England.
* Post-qualification experience working within children’s services, ideally in a safeguarding, assessment, or referral role.
* Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation and statutory guidance, including the Children Act, Working Together to Safeguard Children, and local authority safeguarding procedures.
* Experience working in a multi-agency setting, with the ability to gather and analyse information from different sources to inform decision-making.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, families, and professionals.
* Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and make sound decisions in a high-stakes environment.
* Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to assess risk and make informed decisions about child protection.
* A commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
