The role will be for a Reception Assistant, with some support in dispensary duties. We are a small, friendly practice with a close-knit team. We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated team player who can work well independently and as part of the team. Flexibility to cover sickness and annual leave is essential.
Main duties of the job
Reception tasks include booking patient appointments, processing prescriptions, coding, referrals, ordering stock, handling deliveries, and other reception duties. Responsibilities also involve registering patients, opening and locking up the practice, and providing compassionate care to patients.

Job responsibilities
Dispenser/Medical Receptionist
Dispensers are responsible for dispensing medication accurately. Receptionists are the first point of contact for patients and should demonstrate professionalism, empathy, efficiency, and patience. Duties include:
* Polite and helpful communication with patients face-to-face and via phone
* Processing prescription requests and dispensing medications according to guidelines
* Handling controlled drugs and maintaining records
* Managing repeat prescriptions and stock control
* Ensuring shelves are tidy and stock is rotated and in date
* Charging prescription fees appropriately
* Maintaining logs and ensuring SOPs are up to date
Reception
* Opening and closing the practice securely
* Managing appointment scheduling and patient inquiries
* Processing mail, messages, and paperwork
* Handling repeat prescriptions and data entry
* Responding to patient requests and coordinating with healthcare providers
* Providing clerical support as needed
* Maintaining a tidy reception area
* Explaining practice procedures to new and temporary patients
* Responding to patient queries and requests, including home visits and ambulance requests
* Handling patient complaints appropriately
Confidentiality
* Respect patient privacy and handle sensitive information confidentially
* Access to confidential information is strictly for authorized purposes and in accordance with practice policies
Job details
Type: Part-time, Permanent
Hours: 21 hours/week over 4 days, Monday to Friday
Experience: NHS and EMIS Web experience advantageous but training provided
