Job Summary
We are recruiting for a Clinical Engineer who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients. The Clinical Engineer is responsible for the lifecycle management of medical equipment within the EBME Department, ensuring all devices are maintained, calibrated, and compliant with safety standards. Additionally, the engineer will assist with other clinical engineering tasks and projects as needed to support the EBME Services.
Main duties of the job
* Provide clinical technical services including preventative maintenance, servicing, inspection, and repair for a variety of medical equipment.
* Liaise effectively with clinical users to understand equipment issues, assess severity, and prioritize responses based on urgency.
* Diagnose faults using appropriate techniques and report novel or unusual faults to the Team Lead.
* Identify root causes of equipment malfunctions and verify device function according to manufacturer specifications.
* Conduct calibration, quality control, safety testing, and acceptance testing to ensure optimal performance.
* Perform electrical and functional safety checks to maintain safety standard compliance.
* Perform preventative maintenance in clinical areas following the EBME maintenance schedule.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications and Experience
* Previous Experience: Engineering experience in a medical device environment; NHS experience.
* Skills: Technical proficiency in medical device maintenance, repair, calibration, safety testing; strong communication skills; organizational skills for managing records, inventory, maintenance schedules; IT skills including asset management systems.
* Knowledge: Medical Equipment Technology; Lifecycle Management; Electrical Safety; Regulatory Standards (HTM 06‑01, MHRA alerts, IEC 62353).
* Qualifications/Training: Degree or HND in Clinical/Electronics Engineering.
