About the role:
We have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to join our Maintenance team at Abbey Mills Sewage Works. Your role will be to ensure all equipment at our waste treatment works operates safely and efficiently through proactive and reactive maintenance, helping keep the site running smoothly.
This is a great chance to contribute to Thames Water's environmental efforts and reduce pollution from our sites.
What you’ll be doing as the Mechanical Technician
* Investigate plant failures and perform repairs promptly to prevent process interruptions, including diagnosing complex faults and managing incident repairs.
* Provide technical advice, stay updated with technical knowledge, and support or train technical trainees if needed.
* Work on equipment such as motors, gearboxes, conveyors, centrifuges, pumps, control gear, VSDs, valves, measurement devices, and chemical handling and dosing equipment.
* Complete statutory checks as required.
* Always adhere to safety guidelines and procedures.
Base Location:
Abbey Mills - Stratford - E15 2RN
Working Pattern:
38 Hours, Monday - Friday, 7:30 am – 3:36 pm, with standby & overtime opportunities potentially increasing earnings by £8-£10k.
All PPE and tools are provided.
What you should bring to the role
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
* A valid driving license.
* Significant experience in Mechanical systems, ideally as a time-served apprentice.
* Knowledge of health and safety procedures.
