The Role - Senior Structural Technician
We are looking to add to our successful teams by recruiting a Senior Structural Technician based in our Bristol or Epsom offices. We seek a candidate committed to the long-term development of their engineering skills and enthusiastic about career progression within our organization. The candidate will have a strong commitment to collaborative working. The role requires an ability to work effectively as part of project teams but also under your own initiative. Our Bristol and Epsom offices provide multidisciplinary design and engineering services and integrated solutions across a wide range of sectors. Drawing upon a diverse skill set and a proven track record of delivery, we are playing a leading role in some of the world’s most challenging and exciting engineering projects.
AtkinsRéalis is seeking a candidate who can demonstrate a high level of technical capability within the building structures sector and who can deliver CAD & REVIT support to our designers.
Your experience to date will have included involvement in a range of market sectors and include detailing of key structural engineering materials, such as steel, concrete, timber, and masonry.
Successful applicants will be able to fulfill many of the following requirements with additional training and development opportunities provided if required.
What You Can Bring - Desired Experience / Capability
* In-depth experience of Autodesk products, specifically Revit and Navisworks, is essential. Experience with Trimble Tekla (Tedds / Designer) and Autodesk Robot skills would be beneficial but not essential.
* Experience utilising common data environments to support project delivery.
* Good knowledge of digital tools within the building industry.
* In-depth knowledge of UK and Industry-wide BIM requirements.
* Capability for problem-solving and understanding the wider engineering context of your drawings and models.
* Proven track record in BIM delivery from concept to construction.
* Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team of engineers and technicians.
* Good general knowledge of construction techniques and materials.
* Good organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage time effectively during peaks in workload.
* Experience in utilising automation processes to improve efficiency (e.g., scripting platforms such as Dynamo) is desirable.
Your Purpose - Responsibilities and Other Requirements
* Produce accurate and reliable 2D structural drawings and 3D models from engineering sketches.
* Deliver structural steelwork drawings, reinforced concrete drawings, RC detailing, and schedules. Experience with packages such as CADS RC would be beneficial but not essential.
* Mentor apprentice technicians.
* Work closely with engineers to understand and anticipate practical challenges within a design and collaborate to resolve them.
* Liaise with the BIM Coordinator or National BIM Lead to address issues related to internal standards on projects.
* Ensure project standards align with the project BEP.
* Manage document control using AtkinsRéalis and client’s CDE.
