Are you passionate about brining empty homes back to life and helping tackle Scotland’s housing emergency? Do you want to work for Scotland’s largest social landlord and make a real difference in communities?
We’re looking for a proactive, self-motivated, Empty Homes Officer, to join the housing strategy team, to help bring empty homes back into use – providing much needed housing in North Lanarkshire.
Based within the Civic Centre, Motherwell, this is a key role in implementing our empty homes strategy and supporting national efforts to make best use of existing homes in meeting housing needs. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Identifying and investigating empty properties
1. Engaging with property owners, landlords and developers
2. Developing and implementing our Empty Homes Strategy
3. Offering advice and support to bring empty homes back into use
4. Collecting data and reporting on progress made towards reducing empty homes
5. Working with other council services, wider stakeholders and partners to increase awareness of empty homes support
6. Identifying and implementing new approaches to tackling empty homes
7. Working with Scotland’s Empty Homes Partnership to build a better understanding of empty homes issues across Scotland and to innovate and collaborate on any potential new solutions that can be implemented locally
You will be an excellent communicator and collaborator, with a problem-solving mindset, with experience in housing, or a related field, and have the ability to manage casework and maintain accurate records. Sound knowledge of relevant housing policy and legislation is required, along with being able to manage your workload independently, which may involve multiple priorities whilst being able to meet deadlines.

This role operates on a hybrid basis with a combination of home working, office attendance within Civic Centre, Motherwell and site visits/meetings.
Work pattern:
17.5 hours per week - 08:45 - 16:45 (including a 55 minute unpaid break)
Friday: 08:45 - 16:15 (including a 50 minute unpaid break)
1st week - Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
2nd week - Thursday. Friday
