The Role
This is a fixed-term maternity cover until 18th July 2026.
The candidate appointed will join an innovative and dynamic team involved in delivering a range of 16-18 full-time study programmes within the Directorate of Professional Service Industries. This includes provision in Travel and Tourism within the college. Responsibilities include preparing and delivering teaching across various topics, providing advice and support to students as a Personal Tutor, conducting Internal Quality Assurance, and related administrative duties.
Key Duties And Responsibilities
* Design, plan, and implement effective and inclusive teaching and supporting learning activities.
* Provide high-quality teaching, assessment, and internal moderation across courses, including Level 2 Travel and Tourism and Cabin Crew.
* Teach across modules or within a subject area using appropriate methods and technologies.
* Assess student work and progress, providing constructive feedback.
* Contribute to tracking and monitoring of key skill performance among students in the Travel and Tourism department.
* Reflect on teaching design and delivery to improve performance, using feedback.
* Participate in outreach and widening participation activities.
* Provide tutorship and support to help students achieve academic, personal, and vocational targets.
* Interview and guide potential students.
* Assist students in progressing to Higher Education or employment.
* Contribute to course development and improvement, coordinating effectively with staff and students.
Essential Qualifications/Training
* A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PCET, PGCE, or QCF Level 5 Diploma in Education).
* Comprehensive understanding of the curriculum with subject specialism to at least Level 3.
* Experience of teaching students aged 16+ with varied abilities.
* Degree or equivalent qualification.
* GCSE or Level 2 in Maths and English.
Desirable Qualifications/Training
* Internal Verifier Qualification.
* Recent relevant CPD or training within the past 2 years.
Experience
* Planning and delivering lessons in line with Ofsted requirements to at least 'good'.
* Experience in teaching and assessing at various levels with high-quality feedback.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Meeting targets, KPIs, or deadlines.
* Knowledge of safeguarding procedures.
* Experience working with parents, families, and external partners.
