Job overview

IPC training, auditing and PPE practitioner (band 5).

Working within the Infection Prevention and Control team.

Full time (37.5 hours per week)

Flexible working.

Permanent.

Helping with the management of infection prevention and control within a wide variety of mental health and LD services.

Where:

You will have an office based at trust HQ but this role trust wide, across the 5 boroughs and Pennine Care footprint (Stockport, Tameside, Bury, Oldham and Rochdale).

Staff are expected to have access to their own vehicle and required insurance to be able to travel to all the boroughs when needed.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties of the job:

Infection Prevention and Control team are looking for a band 5 nurse holding a current professional registration (RGN/RMN/ENMH/AHP) with experience in training, audit and/or PPE management; working in a team in a busy, complex professional environment; the collection of information for the production of reports; carrying out audits and the use of the audit process.

IPC are looking for someone who is able to work as part of teams across the wards and clinical areas but is also able to work autonomously at times. They must have good organisational skills and be able to manage their own time, prioritise effectively and work under pressure to meet deadlines.

The candidate needs a basic awareness of current infections prevention issues facing the NHS; with knowledge of personal protective equipment (PPE), correct usage and storage.

* Computer knowledge including the use of spreadsheet/database
* Knowledge of clinical audit and surveillance practices
* Basic awareness of current infection prevention issues facing the NHS
* Personal Protective Equipment available in our trust, correct usage and storage


Skills and Abilities

* Ability to demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office, Professional, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
* Good organisation skills.
* Able to manage own time and priorities effectively
* Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing at all levels within organisation
* Able to work with children and vulnerable adults
* Work under pressure to meet deadlines
* Able to work with sensitive information in line with the Data Protection Act and Caldicott Principles and approach issues diplomatically

What happens after your application has been received?

You will be informed about the progress of your application following shortlisting via email. Only applicants who clearly demonstrate the criteria listed in the person specification will be shortlisted for interview. Interview invites will be sent out via email.

What happens if I am offered the position after interview?

The hiring manager will make contact with you to verbally offer you the position. The hiring manager will then inform Recruitment of the decision and provide relevant paperwork. You will be sent a formal conditional offer via email.

What pre-employment checks will I need to complete?

By conducting pre-employment checks, the recruitment team will verify that you meet the pre-conditions of the role you have been offered. Pre-employment checks will be carried out according to. The checks are:

* Identity verification
* Right to work check
* Disclosure and barring service (DBS)/Criminal record check (dependent on role)
* Professional registration and/or qualification check
* Occupational health assessment
* Employment history and reference validation

All applicants external to the NHS will be required to provide their to cover the most recent three years employment. This information will used to validate employment history and references as part of pre-employment checks.

What happens when pre-employment checks are complete?

Recruitment will liaise with you and the hiring manager to arrange a start date for your new position. You will then be booked on to a Trust Welcome Session and be sent your Pennine Care NHS Terms and Conditions.
