Do you have a positive and flexible can-do attitude? Do you enjoy supporting a range of adults to overcome challenges and reach their full potential?
We have vacancies in the following teams:
1. Mental Health Blaby, Oadby, Wigston
2. Hospitals Team (30-hour position)
Mental Health and Reablement Team:
As an AMHP in the Operational Commissioning, Mental Health and Reablement Team, based within Blaby, Oadby, Wigston and Market Harborough, there will be a requirement to complete the tasks of a social worker within a statutory organisation. Namely, completing assessments under the Care Act 2014, commissioning services according to need, safeguarding adults of risk of harm and abuse, using the VARM criteria where appropriate, assessing mental capacity and presenting cases to the Court of Protection, as they arise, amongst other things. The approach used is from a strengths-based model, with a focus on recovery. There will also be an expectation that the candidate participates on the locality duty rota, however AMHP’s have less frequency with this, and they also hold a lower case load, due to their AMHP responsibilities.
Hospitals Team:
We now have the exciting opportunity to offer a 30 hour permanent position working as an AMHP within the Hospital Mental Health Service. This well established and supportive specialist team supports inpatients in Leicestershire Partnership Trust Hospital Settings. There is a strong focus on recovery, reablement and the use of communities and neighbourhoods. The successful post holder will link in with health colleagues, completing assessments as part of the Care Act and S117 of the Mental Health Act 1983. The successful post holder will also complete reviews of services following an individual’s discharge.
The role is usually based at County Hall on the Glenfield hospital site in Leicester (although flexible working arrangements/ reasonable adjustments can be discussed).
Please specify which team(s) you are interested in on your application
About the Role
As an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP), you will work as part of a supportive and knowledgeable team completing Mental Health Act considerations and assessments for the people of Leicestershire and Rutland. In addition to working in partnership with individuals, their families, communities, and interagency colleagues to help identify the most appropriate options for support, you will also be required to provide specialist support and advice to colleagues and peers across the Council as needed. AMHP’s take an active role in developing the service we provide, and you will be encouraged to play an ongoing part in this.
On occasion, you will be required to undertake additional tasks such as CTO considerations, social circumstances reports, attend tribunals or other hearings, and respond to safeguarding enquiries. You will be expected to undertake your stage 3 Higher Specialist training and provide support to trainee AMHP’s.
This is a challenging role however you will receive support and guidance whenever you need it and will be encouraged to adopt a working pattern that promotes resilience and a positive work/life balance. There is some flexibility on which days/shifts you cover within our core hours however for part-time employees, this will generally be 2 days a week on rota completing assessments under the Mental Health Act 1983, with 1 days’ administration time.
Any additional hours accrued due to the unpredictable nature of Mental Health Act assessments will be remunerated as time off in lieu or paid back if this cannot be accommodated in line with our local policy.
Travel outside of the Leicestershire and Rutland area may be required at times, however this will be agreed in advance and is usually an exceptional occurrence.
A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.
