JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Postdoctoral Researcher to join the McInally Lab (https://wp.wpi.edu/mcinallylab/) at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of quantitative imaging, genetics, computational simulations, and modeling to investigate the fascinating question of how cells control the sizes of their cytoskeletal components.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of researchers to design, execute, and analyze experiments that provide insights into the regulation of cytoskeletal elements within the cell. This research involves the integration of quantitative imaging techniques, genetic manipulation, computational simulations, and mathematical modeling to decipher the mechanisms underlying cytoskeletal size control.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsibilities will include:
1. Utilize advanced quantitative imaging techniques to visualize and analyze cytoskeletal structures within living cells.
2. Perform genetic perturbations to manipulate cytoskeletal components and assess their impact on cell behavior.
3. Develop and implement computational simulations and modeling approaches to understand the regulatory networks controlling cytoskeletal size.
4. Collaborate with other team members to generate and test hypotheses, interpret results, and present findings.
5. Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences.
Candidates should have the following qualifications:
6. Ph.D. in a relevant field (Cell Biology, Biophysics, Computational Biology, etc.).
7. Strong background in quantitative imaging, genetics, and computational modeling.
8. Proficiency in data analysis and relevant software tools.
9. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative research environment.
10. Excellent communication skills and a track record of scientific publications.
Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Interested candidates should submit the following documents:
11. A cover letter outlining their research interests and qualifications.
12. Current CV with a list of publications.
13. Contact information for three professional references.
The McInally Lab at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) is dedicated to advancing our understanding of fundamental cellular processes. We are committed to fostering a collaborative and inclusive research environment, and we welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds to apply.
Join us in exploring the intricate mechanisms by which cells control the sizes of their cytoskeletal structures. Your contributions will play a crucial role in advancing our knowledge of cell biology and have the potential to shape the future of therapeutic interventions.
