Your purpose will be:
To support the presentation, conditioning, and maintenance of the championship golf course at Fairmont Cheshire The Mere. The Assistant Greenkeeper plays a vital role in delivering immaculate playing surfaces, exceptional course aesthetics, and a consistently world‑class golfing experience. Through technical skill, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence, this role ensures the course reflects the prestige and standards of the Fairmont brand.
Job Description
1. Maintain turf health through mowing, aerating, fertilising, and pest control
2. Set up and maintain course elements including bunkers, hazards, and tee markers
3. Operate and maintain greenkeeping equipment safely and efficiently
4. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations across all work areas
5. Communicate effectively with team members, management, and golf course users
6. Apply golf rules and etiquette in course maintenance activities
7. Support renovation projects and ornamental area maintenance as required
8. Monitor and report on course conditions and operational issues
9. Attend training sessions and meetings to enhance skills and knowledge
10. Uphold The Mere's values and maintain high standards of professionalism

Qualifications
11. NVQ Level 2 in Sports Turf Maintenance (or working towards) preferred
12. PA1, PA2, PA6 spraying certificates desirable
13. Minimum 2 years of experience in greenkeeping, sports turf, or grounds maintenance
14. Experience operating turf machinery including mowers, tractors, and implements
15. Knowledge of turf care, including mowing, aeration, irrigation, and nutrition
16. Understanding of UK Health & Safety regulations, including safe machinery use and COSHH
17. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
18. Strong communication skills and a positive, team‑focused attitude
19. A passion for golf course presentation and delivering exceptional playing conditions
