Job Overview
We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic individual to join a well‑established Clinical Coding Department at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor. The post holder will be required to extract medical terms from clinical documents and translate them to clinical codes for hospital activity at Ysbyty Gwynedd. Trainee Clinical Coders will be considered if we are unable to fill the post with a Qualified Clinical Coder. Trainee Clinical Coders will be placed on a Band 3 pay structure until they gain NCCQ status, when they will move to a Band 4. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main Duties
You will have good knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and a keen attention to detail is essential to this role. You are expected to keep updated on developments in clinical coding through internal training and specialty training courses, which may involve travelling. We offer a comprehensive training package including Coding Standards Course and an internal trainee coder development course fully supported by experienced nominated mentors. If you are looking to develop your skills in the coding environment and can make a positive contribution to our service, we would like to hear from you.
