Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic Student Member Engagement Executive to support and inspire our thriving community of over 11,000 student members worldwide. This is an exciting role in securing the future growth of the RSC by engaging undergraduate students pursuing chemical science degrees and creating pathways to professional membership. The role involves developing and delivering initiatives that connect students with the RSC's resources and benefits, designing and implementing marketing campaigns, and building relationships with academic institutions within the UK and ROI, as well as key international institutions that are part of the RSC accredited universities community. The position offers hybrid working; while contractually based at our Cambridge or London office, you may work from home within the UK with attendance to the office as needed. The role will involve extensive travel across the UK. Please outline any flexible working arrangements in your application. Salary: circa 36,500 GBP annual.
Location: Cambridge or London (hybrid with UK home-work option)
Responsibilities
* Develop and deliver the membership value proposition for undergraduate students, creating activities and services that drive student involvement with the RSC
* Advocate for student member needs as their central point of contact, using audience insights to inform engagement strategies
* Create and deliver an inclusive onboarding and engagement plan tailored to qualification stages, promoting RSC activities and embedding a culture of CPD and professional body interaction
* Deliver an effective retention pipeline transitioning student members to Associate Membership
* Work with the Volunteer and Member Engagement Manager to develop visible volunteer and outreach opportunities aligned to students' needs and strategic priorities
* Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders at academic institutions, including RSC academic representatives, student chemistry society contacts, and accreditation contacts
* Represent the RSC at student-focused events and contribute to RSC events and meetings where appropriate
* Monitor, report on, and contribute to team activities and outcomes
Our ideal candidate
* Possess a degree in the chemical sciences and understand the experiences of students pursuing Chemistry/STEM degrees and how professional body membership can help
* Be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and deliver effective recruitment talks to influence joining decisions
* Be able to make informed assessments and analyses
* Have a proactive approach to solving problems and developing new approaches, balancing across multiple projects
* Interact, influence and network with RSC colleagues, members and peers at other professional bodies
* Provide reasoned opinions and objective advice to colleagues and members
* Driving license (desirable). Reasonable adjustments will be considered
