Offer description

Be the calm in someone’s storm.
We’re looking for a patient, understanding, and genuinely brilliant individual to support a Year 3 pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a primary school in Lambeth. It’s a full-time role where your presence will make all the difference.

What the role looks like:

1. 1:1 support for a Year 3 pupil managing SEMH challenges

2. Building trust, routine, and emotional resilience throughout the school day

3. Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals

4. Helping the pupil access learning in a way that feels safe and achievable

5. Using de-escalation, praise, and empathy (your superhero toolkit)

What we’re looking for:

6. Experience with SEMH, trauma-informed practice, or behaviour support (school-based or other settings)

7. A calm, nurturing approach with strong boundaries

8. Confidence to lead and support in tricky moments

9. Team player energy – someone who communicates well and muck in when needed

Bonus points if you:

10. Have Thrive training (or are up for taking our free course – trust us, schools love it)

11. Have experience with SEND, especially ADHD or attachment needs

12. Can bring creativity into the day – maybe you’ve got a knack for drawing, storytelling, or calming techniques?

What’s in it for you?

13. Weekly pay through PAYE (no umbrella faff)

14. Free access to Protocol’s CPD Academy (yes, Thrive included!)

15. Support from a lovely local consultant who actually listens

16. A chance to genuinely impact a child’s school experience – not just fill a seat

Ready to be someone’s person in school?
Apply now or drop us a message and we’ll chat through the role. It could be the start of something special.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

Protocol Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with the DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
