This opportunity is based at our Frenchay campus and involves ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective daily operation of the Centre for Sport facilities, overseeing Centre Assistants, and supervising customer activities during assigned shifts. The role upholds Health & Safety standards, supports team development, and delivers a high-quality experience for all facility users.
Responsibilities
* Ensure the smooth delivery and coordination of facility usage and scheduled activity programmes.
* Line manage Centre Assistants, providing guidance to maintain operational excellence.
* Act as deputy to the Operations Manager, contributing to the management of all UWE Bristol Sport Facilities including the Centre for Sport, Wallscourt Farm Gym, and Hillside Gardens.
* Support the implementation of standard operating procedures and ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations.
The role requires good organisational skills and broad-based administrative experience in a professional or specialist service within a large complex organisation (e.g., Higher Education). Experience in team supervision, motivation, and coaching, with the ability to communicate effectively with a range of people including University staff, students, and members of the public, is essential. You must have experience in organising leisure centre activities and excellent IT skills (email and MS Office including Word, PowerPoint, Excel to expert level).
The role operates on a fixed 4-week rota pattern, including 2 days as Duty Officer (18.5 hours) and remaining hours administrative, distributed throughout the week.
* Wk1 – Duty Officer: Mon 07:00–17:00, Tue 07:00–15:30, Wed/Thu Admin
* Wk2 – Wed/Thu Admin, Duty Officer Fri 07:00–13:00, Sat 08:30–21:00
* Wk3 – Duty Officer: Tue 14:30–23:00, Fri 13:00–23:00, Wed/Thu Admin
* Wk4 – Duty Officer: Mon/Tue 13:15–22:30, Wed/Thu Admin
