We are seeking a Manager to lead our Economic Crime Unit (ECU), which is part of the National Environmental Crime Unit (NECU). The successful candidate will lead a specialist team dedicated to removing the financial benefit from criminals.


Responsibilities

* Lead the ECU, providing strategic direction for financial investigations and ensuring obligations under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) are fulfilled.
* Manage two Team Leaders (Asset Denial Team and Money Laundering Investigation Team) and a Senior Financial Intelligence Officer; provide strong leadership, motivate and develop the team, and manage performance and delivery.
* Collaborate with internal teams (Investigatory Teams, Intelligence & Partnerships, Legal) and external partners (Police, National Crime Agency, HMRC); influence at senior levels to align EA priorities with external enforcement agencies.
* Support the wider organisation in improving processes and understanding POCA; share lessons learned and contribute to changes in technical documentation; advise other enforcement officers nationwide.
* Oversee the Economic Crime Unit’s two teams (Asset Denial and Money Laundering Investigations), comprising Financial Investigators, Financial Intelligence Officers and Crime Analysts.
* Commit to a national, dispersed team and tackle serious and complex criminality involving organised crime networks.


Experience/Skills Required

* Exceptional leadership skills, ideally with experience leading a dispersed team.
* Good understanding of financial investigations and the Proceeds of Crime Act.
* Experience of:
o Working in the law enforcement sector and understanding of the National Intelligence Model
o Effective communication, including delivering feedback, managing performance, and building relationships with external stakeholders
o Working under pressure and prioritising a varied workload
o Identifying areas for improvement and leading changes to working practices
o Developing and enhancing the capability of a team and the individuals within it


Contact and Additional Information

* This is a hybrid working role; you’ll work from home and your nearest office. Travel across the country for meetings and operational duties may be required.
* Incident response is a central part of what we do. You may be required to have an incident role and be available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident (may attract additional payment).
