About us
Buckinghamshire Council is a relatively new organisation that combines the strengths and expertise of the previous five councils in the county to create positive change for local people, communities, and businesses. We are focused on the future and committed to serving residents better and providing stronger representation for Buckinghamshire, both locally and nationally.
Buckinghamshire is an ambitious, rapidly growing county with one of the strongest economies in the country. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty, ranked as one of the top rural areas to live in the UK, and is well connected—only an hour from London by train. The county has a rich history and heritage and is the birthplace of the international Paralympic movement.
We are seeking motivated, ambitious, and inspiring individuals to join us on our journey. You will be entitled to a range of benefits to ensure satisfaction both at work and at home.
About the role
In addition to business and finance tasks, the role requires working as part of a specialist team supporting childcare providers with registering for Funded Entitlement places. Responsibilities include sharing information with childcare providers via mail or the website, managing correspondence, and writing simple reports. You will use skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and be trained in specialist IT and web-based programs.
About you
You will have excellent communication skills and proven experience in providing high-quality customer service, with the ability to handle situations involving the public and staff calmly and politely. Some knowledge of the early years and childcare sector and current government policies is desirable. You should be able to organise work effectively, meet deadlines, and communicate clearly in writing and orally. Minute-taking skills are essential. Previous experience with financial and purchasing systems like SAP is advantageous.
