JOB TITLE: AssistantManager - Global Surveillance Oversight

SALARY:£57,150 - £69,850

LOCATION(S):Bristol, Edinburgh, Newport, Halifax, Leeds, Birmingham

HOURS:Full-time

WORKING PATTERN:Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites

About this opportunity

The Assistant Manager, Surveillance Oversight supports the delivery of independent second line oversight of the firm’s Surveillance framework. The role focuses on analytical support, monitoring activity and documentation, helping to ensure effective management of Market Abuse risks in line with regulatory expectations and internal policies.

Sitting within 2LoD Conduct & Compliance, the role works closely with Surveillance Oversight colleagues and Risk and Control Owners, contributing to governance, assurance activity and well‑evidenced oversight outcomes.

What you’ll be doing:

1. Support day‑to‑day delivery of Surveillance Oversight activity, contributing to effective oversight of Market Abuse risks across products and markets.

2. Assist with review and analysis of Surveillance performance information, including management information, alert trends, quality outcomes and monitoring results.

3. Produce accurate and timely data, documentation and analysis to support oversight of policy adherence and alignment with risk appetite.

4. Support the identification and documentation of findings and observations, raising issues clearly and proportionately to senior colleagues.

5. Contribute to the preparation of oversight, assurance and governance outputs, including reports and materials for senior collaborators.

6. Maintain clear and robust ** audit trail and supporting evidence** for Surveillance Oversight and Compliance Assurance activity.

7. Support Compliance monitoring, assurance or testing work over Surveillance controls, contributing to assessment of control design and operating effectiveness.

8. Assist with investigation and analysis of Surveillance‑related queries, working collaboratively with Surveillance, Technology and Risk collaborators.

9. Use analytical tools and techniques to support efficient, high‑quality delivery and continuous improvement of Surveillance Oversight processes.

What we’re looking for:

You’ll bring at least 2 years’ experience in Compliance, Conduct Risk, Market Abuse or a related control or risk environment, and a strong interest in building a career in this area.

You’ll have a working knowledge of the UK regulatory framework relevant to Market Abuse and Surveillance, alongside an understanding of Compliance frameworks, policies and governance. You’ll be comfortable analysing information, documenting evidence and supporting oversight outcomes, with strong attention to detail and clear written communication skills.

A collaborative approach, curiosity and willingness to learn are key, alongside confidence to raise concerns appropriately.

And it would be great if you also have:

10. Working understanding of Global Markets and Coverage activities

11. Exposure to Surveillance activity, alert handling or quality assurance processes.

12. Experience in supporting delivery of trainings in the MAR space.

13. Experience supporting monitoring, assurance or governance activity.

14. Experience working with data, MI or analytical tools.

15. Experience contributing to regulatory‑facing or governance documentation.

16. A collaborative working style that supports learning and constructive challenge.
