Electrical Contractor – HiL Rig Project | Outside IR35 | £50 per day | 5-week Contract | Bath Area
We’re seeking an experienced Electrical Contractor to take ownership of the design, partial build, and commissioning of a custom Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) rig for a confidential R&D project.
As this contract falls outside IR35, applicants will need to operate via a registered Ltd company and supply their own tools.
Project Summary:
You’ll be leading the hands-on electrical work for a standalone HiL system housed in a 19” rack-mounted mobile enclosure, with responsibilities spanning from schematic design to final commissioning.
The high-level rig configuration includes:
* 1x AC/DC power distribution and control logic shelf
* 3x shelves for battery and BMS hardware
* 1x shelf for charging equipment
Key Responsibilities:
* Create schematics and cable harness drawings using AutoCAD LT
* Layout and partially build the electrical panels
* Oversee harness integration with the in-house Manufacturing Team
* Commission the completed system on-site
What We’re Looking For:
* Proven experience designing and building electrical systems – ideally for HiL rigs, battery test equipment, or automotive R&D platforms
* Proficiency in AutoCAD LT
* Strong understanding of power distribution, battery systems, and system commissioning
* Comfortable working independently and taking initiative on an end-to-end project
