Manager onsite environmental performance and provide environmental and sustainability advice and guidance. A key part of the role is to ensure that the onsite activities comply with:
1. All relevant environmental legislation
2. Project and/or site Environmental Management Plans (EMP) and associated documents
3. Licenses and consents
4. Client environmental objectives, targets, and commitments
Work with internal and external multidisciplinary teams, overseeing the work of our teams and supply chain, and ensuring environmental requirements and quality expectations are met. The role requires a good eye for detail, a strong understanding of environmental regulations, collaborative problem-solving, conscientious reporting, and persuasive interpersonal skills. You will relish the challenge of demanding situations, steep learning curves, tight deadlines, and delivering on complex project sites.
As a Site Environmental Manager your main responsibilities will include:
1. Overseeing the delivery of all environmental measures detailed in site EMPs and associated documents as well as contractors’ detailed Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMS)
2. Coordinating and undertaking regular site inspections and audits to monitor compliance with UK regulations and legislation, EMP and associated documents, RAMS, and environmental licenses/consents
3. Regularly reviewing contractors and external auditors’ environmental inspections and analyzing the data to determine trends in the contractor's environmental performance
4. Identifying follow-up corrective actions to address any non-conformances identified through site inspections or data analysis and ensure that these are implemented by the contractor
5. Reviewing relevant contractor documentation, including RAMS, to ensure that they are appropriate and compliant with EMPs and associated documentation
6. Coordination and management of toolbox talks and environmental inductions to all staff involved in the project
7. Identify and arrange for environmental surveys/watching briefs as required from AECOM in-house specialists or sub-contractors, as appropriate
8. In conjunction with other AECOM managers, engineers, and consultants, maintain and update the relevant EMPs and associated documents during the works
9. Liaising with stakeholders and appropriate statutory bodies, as required
10. Work with other AECOM teams to ensure all required environmental licenses/consents are obtained and works are undertaken in line with any conditions
11. Promote a positive environmental culture through proactive engagement and communications with project teams
