Headquartered in Redditch, our secure 27,000 sq.ft facility is dedicated to design, engineering, manufacturing, and service support. We also operate a 24,000 sq.ft battery design and assembly facility in Crewkerne, a 15,000 sq.ft facility in Leominster for antenna production, electronics, and software, and dual sites in Iver and Langley comprising a 5,000 sq.ft production facility and offices for our imaging business unit, Active Silicon.
Key Responsibilities
* Seeking new suppliers and building new relationships
* Maintaining effective supplier relationships
* Obtaining quotations and negotiating best prices from suppliers
* Attending supplier meetings across the UK as required
* Sourcing and arranging tenders from new and existing suppliers
* Using the MRP system to prioritize tasks
* Raising purchase orders and managing order progress
* Raising orders from requisition forms
* Ensuring timely delivery of items meeting quality standards
* Completing quotation headers for the sales team
* Maintaining supplier key performance indicators
* Managing logistics and customs processes for imports
* Handling order confirmations, pro-forma invoices, and shipping documents
* Facilitating communication between purchasing, production, and sales teams
* Seeking process improvements
* Adhering to health, safety, environmental, and quality policies
You should be flexible and willing to undertake additional duties across the business as directed by leadership.
Skills & Qualifications
* CIPS qualification is advantageous but not essential
* Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Strong planning and organizational skills
* High attention to detail
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office
* Good time management skills and ability to work under tight deadlines
Experience
* Previous experience in a purchasing department is essential
* Experience as a buyer, preferably in manufacturing, is preferred but not essential
* Knowledge of Epicor or similar ERP systems
* Familiarity with MRP systems
* Experience in client/supplier-facing roles
* Ability to work across multiple disciplines
* Experience working to tight deadlines
